Is Tribulus the Answer to Low Testosterone? Five Studies Say Yes!
We know that low testosterone production in men often leads to a decrease in muscle mass, energy levels and libido. - In this randomized, double-blind study from 2018, researchers looked at the effects of tribulus on healthy young men aged 18-35 with normal testosterone levels. The participants were given either 800 mg of tribulus daily or a placebo for 8 weeks. At the end of the trial period, those taking tribulus showed significant increases in their free and total testosterone levels compared to those taking the placebo. 
- This 2017 study looked at the effectiveness of tribulus when combined with other supplements such as zinc and fenugreek extract. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either a combination of these three supplements or just zinc alone for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, those receiving all three supplements showed significantly higher increases in their testosterone levels than those taking only zinc.
- This 2013 study investigated the effects of an herbal supplement containing both tribulus and fenugreek on male volunteers between ages 20-40 years old who had low testosterone levels due to stress. After four weeks of supplementation, researchers observed a significant increase in free and total testosterone levels among those taking the supplement compared to those taking a placebo.
- A 2012 study also looked at the effect of tribulus on men with low testosterone due to chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Participants were given either 500mg daily of pure tribulus or a placebo for 8 weeks. At the end of the trial period, researchers observed significantly higher increases in free and total testosterone among those taking tribulus compared to those taking the placebo.
- A 2006 study examined how well different doses of tribulus—ranging from 250 mg up to 1000 mg—affected male participants aged 21-50 who had low testosterone due to aging. Researchers found that all doses tested led to significant increases in free and total serum testosterone after 12 weeks.
From these five studies we can see that there is evidence that suggests that supplementing with Tribulus may be effective for increasing both free and total serum testosterone levels in men with low T due to aging, CFS or stress.
